The yearly “March of Brides,” which this year took place Oct. 17, mourns the death of a Dominican-American woman named Gladys Ricart, who was shot in 1999 by an ex on her wedding day to another man. It’s also meant as a protest against domestic violence in general.
“We won’t stand for any more violence and criminality.”
